Flash Fiction Foray-‘Waterloo Sunset’

Charge!
A different Waterloo (just reusing Curtis’ pun…). Image is in the public domain as a work over 80 years old

It’s that time of week again, and this week there are three entries to take a look at, based on the song Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks; an older song which produced a huge variety of responses.

The entrants here were Ritu, from But I Smile Anyway…, with wordplay and partying nestled happily side by side. wafflemethis wrote of a more delicate evening, and additionally managed to subtly link to the lyrics. Kritsa Yvonne had a gentle piece with plenty of detailed description in sharp contrast to Curtis Bausse, who wrote one of those simultaneously melancholy and eerie pieces he excels in. Elizabeth Preston constructed a terrific piece containing palpable regret and the mutation of the “paradise” spoken of in the lyrics.

Ritu’s piece: ‘Flash Fiction Foray #13 Waterloo Sunset

wafflemethis’s piece: ‘FFF#13

Yvonne’s piece: ‘Flash Fiction – Waterloo Sunset

Curtis’ piece: ‘Terry and Julie

Elizabeth’s piece: ‘Flash Fiction Foray: Lost Paradise

The prompt for the next week will be posted at (around) 19:00 UTC tomorrow. Thanks go to all the participants!

    1. Sorry I didn’t reply or comment on your post Elizabeth, I was away for a couple of days and having managed to put in a link I didn’t want to push my luck and mess something up. Having said that, I did really enjoy your writing, it seems very fitting for a Monday too (Monday blues as they say)!
      Thanks for taking part.
      Best, Matt
